Favorite “family” of bands

In their original post, Pupshaw used the example of The Byrds, from which Gene Clark, Gram Parsons, Flying Burrito Brothers, and CSN(Y) all “spun off” from. While it might be a bit of a cheat as from the group’s inception the intention was for every single member to have individual solo deals and other projects separate from the main group, I have to go with the Wu-Tang Clan. It remains an impressive feat that not only was every single member of the group able to (eventually) have a solo career, but that so many of those releases (in the early years, especially) were both commercially successful and critically acclaimed. And in addition to dozens of albums by the core members, to date there have been literally hundreds of releases by Wu-Tang “affiliates” as well, though I have not (and probably will never) listen to all of them, and of the ones I’ve heard only a few have been close to reaching the quality of the best work by the core members of the group.
