Jeopardy!

QUOTABLE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS // HOLDING SPACE // THE “CO” CO. // TELEVISION // WONDERS // NEVER CEASE

DD1 – $400 – QUOTABLE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS – “Just think lovely wonderful thoughts… and they lift you up in the air”, explains this eternal youth (Erin added $2,000 to improve to $5,200 and tie Liam for the lead.)

Scores at first break: Liam $5,000, Erin $2,200, Steve -$200.

Scores entering DJ: Liam $6,400, Erin $5,600, Steve $400.

Double Jeopardy!

THE 1970s // AMERICAN LAKES & RIVERS // SCIENCE & NATURE // A COMPLETE UNKNOWN // DRINKING SONGS // “MB”, EH?

DD2 – $1,200 – AMERICAN LAKES & RIVERS – This river that flows through a valley of the same name is the main tributary of the Potomac (Liam doubled to $19,200.)

DD3 – $1.200 – SCIENCE & NATURE – This hard, dark-colored volcanic rock is the most common type found in the Earth’s crust (Liam dropped $3,000 to $20,800 vs. $5,600 for Erin.)

Liam quickly found both DDs in DJ, doubled on DD2 but a miss on DD3 helped keep the game alive into FJ with Liam at $25,400, Erin at $14,800 and Steve with $5,400.

Final Jeopardy!

CONTEMPORARY AUTHORS – At the start of his writing career, his wife told him, if it didn’t work out, at 6’4″, he could be a reacher in a supermarket

Only Erin was correct on FJ, doubling to win with $29,600.

Final scores: Liam $21,199, Erin $29,600, Steve $5,400.

Wagering strategy: Liam’s betting on the two DDs in DJ was perfectly-sized. On DD3 he would have had a runway into FJ if correct, and with the miss he still held a highly favorable position with a commanding lead, forcing Erin to be correct on FJ and for Liam to miss in order for him to lose.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the five-letter “co” company of Mr. Popeil which brought us the Pocket Fisherman, Ronco.

Correct Qs: DD1 – Who is Peter Pan? DD2 – What is Shenandoah? DD3 – What is basalt? FJ – Who is Lee Child?
