I’d Rather Just Sing! Best Musical Number in a Non-Musical Movie Tournament: Round 3

Moving on to Round 3, but first some stats from the previous round of voting.

Marty McFly’s anachronistic performance of “Johnny B. Goode” in Back to the Future earned the highest total upvotes this round with 52. There was a 4-way tie for lowest totals with Leslie Neilson’s rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” from The Naked Gun; the 5678s singing “Woo-hoo-oo-oo-oo” in Kill Bill; the Joker’s destructive dance through the Gotham Museum in Batman; and Tom Hanks’ dancing to “Chopsticks” on the giant piano in Big all earning 11 votes. The 41-vote difference between Back to the Future and Big was the biggest margin of victory, while the closest match saw the Chinese-language version of “Anything Goes” from Temple of Doom lose by only 2 points to Heath Ledger’s take on “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” from 10 Things I Hate About You. That scene from 10 Things was tied with John Travolta’s iconic “Night Fever” dance in Saturday Night Fever for the lowest votes to move on the next round, with 28 each. Among the losing scenes, “Anything Goes” tied with Jessica Rabbit’s “Why Don’t You Do Right” and Ferris Bueller’s show-stopping combo of “Danke Schoen/Twist & Shout” for the most votes with 26 each.
