Comic Book Conversations: Build your Forever Team

Back in 1998, Kurt Busiek, Carlos Pacheco, Jesus Merino, Roger Stern, et al. released Avengers Forever which assembled a new line-up of heroes from the team’s past, present and possible futures: Wasp and Hank Pym as Giant Man from the present; Captain America, Hawkeye and Hank Pym as Yellowjacket from the past; Songbird from the near future; and Genis-Vell as Captain Marvel from a later future.

Then in 2015, Al Ewing, Alan Davis, Mark Farmer, Rachelle Rosenberg, et al. released Avengers: Ultron Forever which did a similar trick: Black Widow and Vision from the present; Hulk, Thor, Jim Rhodes as Iron Man from the past; Jane Foster as Thor from the near future; and Danielle Cage as Captain America from a later future.

It’s a fun gimmick but I don’t think other teams have really used the format. So our game today is to pick any super team (heroes or villains) and build a roster from their history and their potential.

Last week, we conversed about sports and comics.
