Dan Snaith was born in Dundas, Ontario on March 29, 1978 – just one of two or maybe more Dans born in Canada on that exact same day. Snaith started recording and releasing electronic music under the name Manitoba, but in 2004 Dictators vocalist Handsome Dick Manitoba – undoubtedly afraid that the record-buying public would be confused – threatened a lawsuit, which led to Snaith changing his stage name to Caribou. Snaith has also released music under the name Daphni.

To date, Snaith has released 12 studio albums; they’re all worth checking out, but my personal favorite is Andorra.
