Optional Discussion Topic: Weather Conditions

It’s kind of a cliche that when the main character is feeling down, it’s gray and down pouring, and then when things turn their way, the sun comes out and the birds sing. Maybe a vicious storm whips up while they’re having an argument. Maybe a blizzard traps them indoors with their love and forces them to connect. The weather in their childhood memories is always perfect and lovely, while today’s is dreary and dismal. 

How do you incorporate weather into your writing? Or even night and day?
