This ad uses its Muppet guest stars in an odd way.

Normally, when you get such high profile celebrities for an ad, you feature them the whole way through. Either that, or you have them pop up at the very end as a fun surprise. But this does something different.

It starts with the Muppets, doing their usual antics. But then it switches to a random family trying to find a better hotel. Then a random bachelorette party trying to find a different better hotel. Then it circles back around to the Muppets at the end.

For a bit, I was thinking maybe those human characters were also some celebrities that I just wasn’t familiar with, and this juxtaposition was a nod to the Muppet/celebrity guest balance of The Muppet Show. But as far as I can tell, I don’t think those actors are famous for anything else.

It’s just weird. Like they made one commercial with Muppets and another one without, and spliced them together. Still, despite that oddity, I can’t say it isn’t entertaining, nor that it doesn’t get its message across well. So, good work, whoever made this.
