Hello! The mods are looking to add a few new people to the team! We haven’t made any additions to the team in a while, and we’ve had several mods retire in the last year. On that note, before we start asking for new recruits, let’s take a moment to thank our recently retired mods for all their help in the past! Since our last recruitment, Kaywise, Mustard of Doom, Afropig, Lindsay, and yellowcedar have stepped down for the time being. A big round of applause for all their hard work! 

So as you can see, our numbers have dwindled, and we could really use some fresh eyes and voices! Interested?

Here’s the deal (requirements & rewards): 

• Be an active member of the community.
• Know the site rules and guidelines or know where to look them up.
• Be able to check in with the most active threads: the OT and PT.  The PT, in particular, may get a bit heated as we prepare for US politics to get even more ridiculous (again).
• Be able to check the mod panel (we’ll teach you how to do that).
• Participate in the mod Slack channel, where we discuss mod actions and get a consensus or quorum before acting when possible. 
• Issue reminders, notes, warnings, etc., with consensus of the team. 
• Be able to feature comments, especially if they are pics of cats.
• Automatically ban bots! It’s weirdly satisfying. 
• Have a cool “ leader bean” tag next to your name.
• Help ensure that this wonderful, special community continues to be wonderful and special and safe for everyone. 

DEI is important. We’d especially like to be sure our mod team is gender diverse and that people of color and the LGBTQA+ community are well represented. We’re also eager to have mods that can be active during the Night Thread, so all time zones are encouraged to apply! If you are good with the technical side of WordPress and/or Disqus, that’s a bonus but not at all required!
