In which Hayley needs to access her feelings
It’s been a strong Hayley focused back half of American Dad’s season. But we once again reach into the well and get some more character work and even a bit of lore for our once proud hippy. But does it work. Well…
Emo Roger and Klaus are skating through Langley but Roger notices a distressing lack of intimacy among the citizens. In order to combat this, Roger writes a blood letter to Suzette Fufoon (sp?) (Roger in disguise). Suzette gets almost everyone in Langley to get more intimate with each other. Everyone except Hayley. She’s more interested in getting down and then going to bed.

Jeff seems to take it ok at first but upon discovering that his emotional needs are not being met tries to get Hayley to be more intimate. This includes an intimacy course with Suzette but when Hayley walks out, Jeff goes to the Applebees. There he meets Dr. Weisman who explains to him that he has created a machine to help with better love making.
He convinces Jeff to try out his new machine that harnesses the pigs power to orgasm for a long time. Hayley tries to find Jeff again but when she realizes he’s with Weisman, she runs to him. With Jeff trapped it’s up to Hayley to go in and rescue him. She’s able to do so by revealing her first intimate experience and that it was with a basketball, maybe indicating why she’s a big hoops fan. They make up and decide to be better going forward.
In our first, new proper B-plot in what feels like ages, Bullock has discovered Marie Kondo, a reference that’s not dated at all. He decides to get rid of everything that doesn’t spark joy and that eventually leads him to blow a mission because he gave away everything except his disco skates. It’s light and it banks on you still caring about Kondo-ing but at least we have more Bullock
Stray Observations
- The Bullock plot with his roller skates seems lifted from a Family Guy gag about roller skating and uses A Fifth of Beethoven as well.
- Jenny! and Craig Robinson are apparently partners “Whoopsay!” “I’m Craig Robinson”.
- Bullock met Captain Picard because it’s funny they’re the same guy
Final Thoughts: After a string of really strong episodes, we’ve hit a bit of a dud again. Nothing awful depending on how you feel about the pig machine. But let me here your thoughts in the comments.
