You look around. No one.
You take it, and call him up.
[phone ringing]
“Come on, pick up…”

“Hello? Make this quick, I’m busy.”
“Fe, listen, I need you to come get me.”
“You know how late it is, right?”
“[mutter] Oh god, you sound just like her.”
“What was that?”
“Nothing. Look, I know you’re still out, and I need a ride, there’s some shit that just went down at the station and I need you to help me.”
“You didn’t talk to S, did you?”
“She wouldn’t listen to me even if I did.”
You hear an exaggerated sigh. “Fine, give me 20 and I’ll be there.”
“You’re the best, Fe.”
“No, I mean 20 dollars.”
“You arse. Fine, I’ll give you it.”
20 minutes later, he shows up, and you both head to the pub.
“Okay, what’s all this about?”
“I need to show you something.”
You show him the ID.
“Oh god, did you make another fake ID?”
“No, that’s the person who jumped in front of a train before I called you.”
“Wait, what??” You nod while he sits there, stunned.
“Jesus, what the hell? They look exactly like you.”
“Something is up, Fe. They saw me before they jumped and they looked like they knew something about me. I want to know who they are…or were, I guess.”
“Don’t go starting up shit again. You’re gonna dig a hole you can’t get out of.”
“I’m a tough cookie, Fe. I know how to take care of myself.”
He slightly scoffs. You worry that he’s right this time.
