30 Day Fictional Settings Challenge, Day 6: Small Towns & Villages

Movie magic can work wonders in spinning the image of a small community full of charming idiosyncrasy. The sort of place where everyone knows everyone else by name. Of course, such places don’t always take the form of a paradise. They do at least usually do have “character” as one might say, and especially on television can often be an inviting place to revisit, time and again. In Star Trek: Voyager the homesick crew even begin running an ongoing group holodeck program simulating a small Irish village.

Today’s main prompt is: What’s your favorite fictional small town?

Book Bonus: What community described in a book has really captured your imagination? Do you relate it to a real place familiar to you, or do you see it as something wholly its own in your mind’s eye?

Name Bonus: What mini-municipality has the best quirky name?
