Optional Discussion Topic: Conflict

Stories come from conflict, but what is that conflict? Too often interpersonal conflict comes off as unrealistic to readers and simple disagreements could be solved easily if the characters would just talk to each other. How do you create realistic and interesting conflict that doesn’t make one or more characters look unhinged or like they’re overreacting to minor issues?
