The big news this week is the odd situation with Rey Fenix. Word on the street is that the Lucha Brothers want to jump to WWE. However, injury time was added to Fenix’s contract, so he’s stuck in AEW while Penta is able to go wherever he wants. Fenix is not taking this well, making now deleted Tweets about how he was treated inhumanely and had issues with medical care. I’m kind of torn on this. Adding the injury time was a major dick move and it sucks that Fenix is going to be stuck doing nothing (and potentially hurting Penta’s chances in WWE if they wanted both but not just one of the Lucha Brothers) for most of the year. However, Fenix has had a habit of leaving dramatically from past promotions, so he may be exaggerating. Just an ugly situation.
NXT Deadline was this past weekend. It was a decent show with an amazing main event in the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge. However, it had a shit title match between Trick Williams and Ridge Holland. Holland has been wrestling for almost a decade but you’d never guess it from his performance. Williams did his best but he just couldn’t get a good match out of Holland. We also had a great tag team match between Fraxiom and the No Quarter Catch Crew.
Not a lot else happened this week. Impact, Smackdown, Rampage, Collision, Raw, and NXT were just there this past week. I heard Dynamite was good (with Toni Storm returning) but my DVR is awful, so I wasn’t able to watch it in time for this.
