Welcome to The Avocado’s weekly discussion of Japanese pop culture! Exciting news from Kodansha this week! They’ve created a new program they’re calling the “Kodansha Print Club“, which will bring previously digital only titles to print! The first series to be printed are Teppu, Blade Girl, and (the one I’m most excited for) Love, That’s an Understatement. I recently started reading this manga by Fujimomo (the same mangaka as Lovesick Ellie) and was hooked pretty much immediately. The two leads are relatable and dynamic, and the romance is very sweet. It’s cool to see this series selected because I know that fans have been really eager for a print release. So it seems like Kodansha was listening! And they’re going to keep listening, using their publishing suggestion feedback form, so if you have anything you want to request, fill that out. And if you’re looking for a new, heartwarming romance to read, check out Love, That’s an Understatement!
Also, in case you didn’t know…it’s almost time for The Pits! The Anime voting thread should be posted on December 18th. AND, even bigger news, this year there will be a category specifically for manga in the Comics awards! Hooray! This one should be posted on December 19th. So get those lists ready!
And, as always…
What have you been watching/reading/playing/eating/listening to lately?
Happy Wednesday! 👹
