Color Outside The Lines 2024 Wrap Up: TV!

Hello! Welcome to COTL, a discussion place for BIPOC. Posted the first 3 Wednesdays of the month

Thread Rules

  1. We ask that only those who identify as people of color participate in this discussion. White Avocados, while valued members of this community, should remain in ‘lurk’ mode.
  2. Shaming and hateful speech are unacceptable.
  3. Please keep potentially traumatic content safely behind spoiler tags.
  4. Nobody on this thread is more or less a person of color than anyone else. (We will not set clearly delineated boundaries on who qualifies as a ‘person of color.’ As a starting point, this thread uses the definition of ‘non-European heritage of sufficient prominence to affect one’s navigation of a society built on white normativity.’ However, we recognize that there are identities which skirt either side of the divide. If people feel that they meaningfully experience the identity of being a person of color, then they are welcome to participate.)

Last Week we celebrated BIPOC 2024 MUSIC:

Color Outside the Lines 2024 Wrap Up: MUSIC!

I had Quincy Jones in the header last week & it feels only appropriate to have Tony Todd here too (R.I.P), but also acknowledge the flipside with some phenomenal creators & performers featured such as Quinta Bunson winning her Emmy (the first Black woman to win Best comedic actress in 30 years![footnote]https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/15/entertainment/quinta-brunson-is-first-black-woman-to-win-best-comedic-actress-emmy-in-30-years/index.html – I mean congratulations, but it shouldn’t have taken this long![/footnote]) & the absolutely sensational ‘We Are Lady Parts.’

Stupid Disqus cutting up my images 😅. I have no idea how it’ll present on the homepage, so thought it best to respect Tony (in the middle just in case), but wanted to put him on the left & away from a celebratory Quinta. Still it’s all part of the continuum of life. We win some… & we lose some. Sigh.

Continuing on from last years celebration, we’re wrapping up 2024 with some of our favorite BIPOC created pop culture. This weeks topic is Television!

Thanks to everyone who contributed last year[footnote]https://the-avocado.org/2023/12/13/color-out-the-lines-2023-wrap-up-tv/#disqus_thread[/footnote].

Prompt: Tell us your favorite BIPOC created and/or cast shows that were either made (or that you discovered) in 2024.

Come back next Wednesday and the one after, where we’ll be covering Movies, Books, Comics, Video games & Podcasts.

Feel free to go off prompt. Have a great day :o)
