Is your area known for a specific dish? Something unique to the area or a specialty that’s not well known to the rest of the world? Or maybe a local spin on a well known dish, like chili. I’m from Chicago and still live in the area. Things like deep dish pizza and specifically dressed hot dogs fit the latter category. To the former I hadn’t really thought that Italian beefs were mainly a Chicago thing until I heard from friends who’d move to other parts of the country and couldn’t find that sandwich. Another one that I see talked about as being a Chicago thing is the Pizza Puff (pictured in the header). Apparently you can now buy them frozen to make at home. For me it’s gotta be straight out of the fryer when the cheese will scorch the roof of your mouth or it’s not the real thing.
