Jeopardy!

PICK YOUR BATTLES // A “BARREL” OF FUN // SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES // YOU’RE GOING TO HOUSTON // CASH CONSIDERATIONS // A PLAYER TO BE NAMED

DD1 – $1,000 – SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES – Identified in the 1970s, these pain relieving proteins in the brain were named to reflect their similarity to morphine (Dave doubled to $8,000.)

Scores at first break: Dave $3,200, Zach $2,400, Erin $2,800.

Scores entering DJ: Dave $8,400, Zach $6,000, Erin $4,800.

Double Jeopardy!

LITERARY LANDMARKS // IN THE KITCHEN // GENDERED LANGUAGE // “A” FOR ART // LAKES // 2024 DNC STATE ROLL CALL SONGS

DD2 – $1,600 – LITERARY LANDMARKS – In St. Petersburg a monument marks the site where this great poet was killed in an 1837 duel (On the first clue of DJ, Erin dropped $2,200.)

DD3 – $1,200 – 2024 DNC STATE ROLL CALL SONGS – “Kiss” & “1999” repped this state (Zach added $2,000 to his third-place score of $6,400 vs. $14,800 for Dave and $12,200 for Erin.)

Dave doubled on DD1, and in the end he needed that edge to keep the lead into FJ at $16,400 vs. $13,000 for Erin and $12,000 for Zach.

Final Jeopardy!

TV CHARACTERS – On TV in the 1960s & the 2020s, this character has a first name that’s partly from Latin for “Death”

Dave and Erin were correct on FJ. Dave added $10,000 to win with $26,400 for a two-day total of $51,400.

Final scores: Dave $26,400, Zach $10,000, Erin $12,000.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the term once used for a man who was a fop or dandy, and became a term of address for any male, is dude.

Wagering strategy: Zach had a chance to get back in the game late in DJ by finding DD3 in a seemingly comfortable category for him, but he only bet $2,000 and therefore remained in third place going into FJ.

Judging the writers: It’s taken about 50 years, but by using “boob” in a clue in reference to a female breast, Jeopardy! has finally progressed to the level of language used by 1970s Match Game.

Correct Qs: DD1 – What are endorphins? DD2 – Who was Pushkin? DD3 – What is Minnesota? FJ – Who is Morticia Addams?
