Welcome to the 30 Day challenge of November which is going to be all about Role Playing Games of all shapes and sizes, whether produced in Japan or USA, tactical or real-time and more.
We’ve talked combat, strategizing and role playing choices, but today is about one of the most fundamental aspects of playing an RPG- or most games for that matter- namely that of moving about the world. This covers both basic locomotion, but also the joys of mounts, airships and fast-travel, of parkouring across the world or just picking locations off a list and warping there. And so, the main prompt of the day is: What RPGs provided the best feeling of simply traversing the world, whether by foot or something else? Any RPGs where simply getting around was inherently fun?
Bonus prompt: What RPGs had the clunkiest movement/traversal, or posed dexterity challenges beyond what the basic locomotion afforded?
New Prompt Plus: Best and worst mounts and vehicles, specifically? What were the biggest pains to get, and were they worth it?
Optional Postgame prompt: What RPG worlds were a slog to traverse, whether due to a dearth of fasttravel or just being too damn big or something else?
