Those of you who’d like to post future Creative Endeavors Threads post your request in the comments below. Hey, Kevzero here, I’m an amateur photographer based on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I mostly take wildlife photos, but have been recently taking pictures of many other things. This week: Cormorants! After almost being wiped-out by habit loss and the effects of DDT, Double-crested Cormorants are now once again a staple of waterways all across North America. They have distinctive black feathers, bright orange bills, and striking emerald green eyes, that make them both rather goofy looking and beautiful at the same time. Despite spending most of there lives in the water, Cormorants’ feathers are actually not waterproof. They are often found perched on land with their wings spread drying their feathers off. One of my favorite time to take pictures of Cormorants is when they are diving for fish. If I’m in the right position I can snap them mid-dive while they are partially or fully underwater. Here’s some recent photos of these amazing birds
