Welcome to the 30 Day challenge of November which is going to be all about Role Playing Games of all shapes and sizes, whether produced in Japan or USA, tactical or real-time and more.
Despite, or probably rather because of their larger story focus compared to other genres, many RPGs have also become the standard as the most “cinematic” of games, often pushing the envelope in terms of ever more elaborately rendered worlds, for better or worse, or aiming for extreme stylization.
And so, whether we’re talking chibi sprite-art or the granularity of grass textures, the main prompt of the day is: What is your most appealing RPG in terms of graphics/artstyle? Do you prefer RPGs that aim for high-fidelity photorealism, or more stylized ones?
Bonus prompt: Least appealing/dullest graphics in an RPG? Any that even turned you off an RPG?
New Prompt Plus: Any franchises you’d like to see pivot to totally new artsyles, maybe swap with that of a different franchise?
Optional Postgame Prompt: Best and worst graphics in sprite-based/isometric RPGs, specifically?
JRPG FASHION CORNER: Shout out the most ludicrous fits from the JRPG scene, for better and worse!
