Mattel’s Wicked Dolls Accidentally Include a Link to an Adult Website

Admit it. You’re sick of Wicked. Even if you’ve already bought your tickets, you are sick of Wicked. We could have a discussion on how it feels like it’s coming out at least fifteen years too late, or about Universal’s bullish decision to split it into two parts, or get really musical theatre nerdy and debate the film’s casting choices, but regardless, Wicked has been forking everywhere.

The marketing for Wicked has been relentless (seriously, why does this movie have its own speakers?!!), but one area of merchandising that wasn’t expected to raise eyebrows was a line of dolls from Mattel, except that they may end up inadvertently causing another part of the body to defy gravity.

As spotted by user “just2goodYT” on Twitter (although this might be the only occasion when calling it “X” would be more appropriate), the packaging for them includes a link to a website called—KIDS, DON’T READ THE FOLLOWING—“Wicked dot com.” There is one tiny problem with that, and it’s about to make these things become a lot more popular on eBay. “Wicked dot com” is…um…a “grown-up” site.

Now that you’ve come back after typing the website’s name on your browser (I’m not judging), it’s safe to assume that they meant to reference “Wicked Movie dot com”, which is the movie’s actual webpage. Or maybe not. Maybe the people at Mattel are just super duper horny for a company that refuses to make anatomically correct Ken dolls. Also, I don’t think I’ve bothered going to a film’s official site since Frozen II came…out.

Wicked: Part One opens November 22nd (though it really opens on November 20th for “preview screenings”), but the dolls are available now if you want to own something hilarious. Or if you just want the dolls. Either way, make sure you keep the box.
