Jeopardy!

BBL, BUSY // ANIMAL ANAGRAMS // RECEIPTS // PROOF // TIMELINE // SCREEN SHOTS

DD1 – $800 – TIMELINE – A major war began in 1618 & ended with the Peace of Westphalia in this year; know the event, do the math & you’re home (Mark added $1,000 on a true DD.)

Scores at first break: Mark $2,600, Mike $0, Cynthia $2,000.

Scores entering DJ: Mark $5,000, Mike $3,600, Cynthia $800.

Double Jeopardy!

AFRICAN-AMERICAN SPORTS HISTORY // WORLD LEADERS // THE VERY OLD SONG & DANCE // CAPITALS OF THE WEST INDIES // STORIES WITHIN STORIES // YOU GET AN “FF”

DD2 – $2,000 – WORLD LEADERS – Before taking a higher position, he was mayor of Istanbul from 1994 to 1998 (Mark doubled to $13,200 vs. $10,000 for Mike.)

DD3 – $1,600 – STORIES WITHIN STORIES – In a story within this 1880 Russian novel, Ivan tells his sibling Alyosha a tale about Jesus & the Grand Inquisitor in Spain (Mark added $3,000 to his score of $15,200 vs. $11,600 for Mike.)

Mark swept the DDs, but Mike made a strong showing and was very much in contention into FJ at $12,800 vs. $18,600 for Mark and $4,400 for Cynthia.

Final Jeopardy!

MOVIES – More than 25 cast members from this 1990 film drama would later appear on an HBO series with a similar theme

Mark and Mike were correct on FJ. Mark added $7,001 to win with $25,601 for a five-day total of $107,201.

Final scores: Mark $25,601, Mike $12,800, Cynthia $1,400.

Turning point of the game: Mike missed a clue that was referring to a character in “Moby-Dick” by saying Ahab instead of Ishmael. This allowed Mark to retain control, find DD3 on the next selection and ensure first place into FJ.

Showbiz stumbles: No one guessed the Oscar-winner who made her feature debut in a 1983 Aussie-set film (Nicole Kidman), or the former soap opera actress who made a “royal exit” (Meghan Markle).

Correct Qs: DD1 – What is 1648? DD2 – Who is Erdoğan? DD3 – What is “The Brothers Karamazov”? FJ – What is “Goodfellas”?
