Welcome to The Avocado’s weekly discussion of Japanese pop culture! Some things are worth waiting for. Like season 7 of Natsume’s Book of Friends! And now the wait is over, because it’s here! It’s finally here. I’m so looking forwarding to spending more time with all of these precious characters, and meeting new ones of course. If you aren’t familiar, Natsume’s Book of Friends is an ongoing shoujo manga by Yuki Midorikawa. It tells the story of a high school boy who has always been able to see spirits (yokai). If I had to say what it’s about, at its core, I guess I’d say…caring. I realize that’s vague, but it’s a big part of what I love about it. Watching this series is like returning to your favorite place after a long trip away. It just feels right. I could say a lot more about why I love this series so much, and why I think everyone should give it a try, but I’ll save it for the comments. I’m really looking forward to discussing this season with everyone and sharing the excitement!
And, as always…
What have you been watching/reading/playing/eating/listening to lately?
Happy Wednesday! 🙂
