The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland reached its Silver Anniversary this year (wait, you mean the kids who saw it in theaters have kids themselves now? I…I need to go lay down). This means that the Game Boy Color game is also 25 now, and it’s…famous for its own reasons.

You see, Elmo in Grouchland is quite possibly the shortest Game Boy game ever. Despite being sold at FULL PRICE back in the day, it can be completed in its entirety in under six minutes. Yes, the box promises “eight challenging worlds,” but I guess Elmo was cool with lying to kids so long as it made his pockets fatter (wait, does Elmo have pockets? You know what, don’t answer that!). Imagine being a parent thinking you found a way to keep your child occupied for that long car ride, and they finish the game before you drive past the first McDonald’s. Maybe Oscar did produce this thing. He knew it would make people who bought it miserable.
Have a grouchy day, y’all! Also, let’s make the “Elmo in Grouchland Speedrunner Community” into a thing, shall we?
