Today would have been Jim Henson’s 88th birthday, and to celebrate we got a nice little present.

This is the first time the Muppet, Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock characters have appeared on screen together since 1987’s Muppet Family Christmas, and because the characters are all owned by different companies now the fact it happened is a genuine surprise. And while there’s never any continuity between Muppet projects, I love that this short seemed to remember that Kermit and Gobo have met before but Gobo has never met Oscar.

One more Henson video I’ve always loved – his 1989 interview on the Arsenio Hall Show. Even with Jim fully visible the whole time, it’s amazing how he disappears as soon as Kermit and Rowlf come alive.
