Slowly working over the past couple of weeks on a project I’ve long wanted to get going: transferring some of my larger sketches into full-scale illustrations and some of the latter into paintings. One frustrating thing about all the sketching I’ve been doing the past couple of years is that particularly elaborate ones could have worked just as well or probably better as full pictures (and the energy therein compared to so many finished pictures has long irritated me, maybe wrongly).

So last weekend I printed out some of these on a larger scale and split them into grids so I can rework them on larger surfaces (one side effect thereof has been working out a procedure for eventually printing illustrations to order if that ever becomes a reality; I’d need a much better printer, obviously, but getting a hang of the values involved has been helpful). Hoping to get all these done before the end of the year. A sobering reflection, though, has been how many of these were from 2022; it feels like I had a lot more energy back in the day and I’d like to get that back, even considering how much other areas of my life have improved.
