Every year, the website They Shoot Pictures, Don’t They? releases a ranked list of the 1,000 most acclaimed movies ever. They determine this by going over as many best movies ever lists as they can. Watching every movie on their lists has long been a dream of mine… and this year, I was able to do that. Because I’m Scott, I decided to rank every movie on there on my personal website:

A few notes:
1. Several non-films are on TSPDT’s list, so I put them where I would if I did count them as movies. Just saying now, considering my longheld antipathy towards counting TV shows as movies.
2. I’m going with the spelling/titles TSPDT’s used. So Every Man for Himself is listed under Sauve qui peut (la vie).
3. There’s going to be some major hot takes towards the bottom of the list, particularly the bottom ten films.
4. Movie number 985 has a slur in the title, so trigger warning on that.
5. I re-watched Heaven’s Gate recently (more accurately, I watched a different cut) and, to put it charitably, my opinion of it has changed rapidly.
