30 Day Time Travel challenge day 17: WHO WEEK- Continuity, lore, and serialization vs standalone

Welcome to the challenge of August, which is going to be all about Time; mostly fiction dealing with Time Travel, but also other topics to do with Time, and the manipulation thereof.

Who Week continues, and today we’re gonna talk about the Who universe itself, and the stories being told with it. As a series going back to the 60’s, the franchise has accrued much Lore and Past Events to draw from – or not! Todays prompt is about how much do you care about the franchises continuity/lore? Any favorite bits? Should the series itself care about its continuity, and do you prefer serialization or standalone episodicness over all?

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a complete Who neophyte, so if I fuck up or skip over obvious discussion prompts, feel free to address this in the comments!

Bonus Prompt: What older elements were most sucessfully expanded/leveraged as continuity?

Extra Bonus Prompt: The worst retcons, or over-complications?

Paradox Bonus Prompt: The best and worst multi-part or overarching storylines?
