Welcome to The Avocado’s weekly discussion of Japanese pop culture! Looking for something refreshing and light to watch? Consider Polar Bear Café! This anime, based on a josei manga published in Flowers magazine, is a fun and fluffy slice-of-life series about a group of animals who hang out at a cafe. There’s more going on that than, but that’s the basic premise. Some of the characters work at the cafe, while others are customers. It’s pretty delightful. I found it because it was recommended for language learning, so I’m watching it in Japanese and certainly missing certain details, but it’s still very fun to watch. So if you want to hang out with some cute animals, give it a try!
