It took me a long time to think up an intro for my first movie thread. Like I have been working this out since I first expressed interest the week Santos said he was done. That is a tough act to follow and there is really not much to know about myself other than I am a giant movie nerd. When most people describe their fandoms, maybe you know a Trekkie, maybe a Trekker, or a Browncoat and the list goes on for quite some time and I do identify as a lot of those things but first and foremost I am a movie nerd so movies will be the introduction (you know, after all these words I keep typing).

As such I am working on a bunch of prompts in the coming weeks that will deal with movie engagement in both specifics and general senses and will hopefully lead to a great amount discussion, insight and suggestions for more cool things that I can watch. Or not, that is cool too, every so often I will try to stay on target long enough to tie things into new releases as well, and hopefully things wont overlap too much with previous prompts as I have only been coming here a few years and also don’t remember too many specifics if it is not a movie or tabletop RPG.

So that being said I thought I would start with THE big question prompt: What is your favourite movie? Personally mine shifts every so often, based on new things I watch, rewatch and the changes in my feelings at different points of my life, but this is a really big question. I am a year round volunteer committee member at our local Sci-fi/Comic/Nerd Convention and in particular I wrangle volunteers, so I always ask this as an icebreaker when they check in and get their meal vouchers and many people cannot answer this question (oddly enough, not one person has asked it back out of about 300 so far). But for the ones who do, I often get inspired, fun and greatly unexpected answers which also adds to my watchlist (hint, hint). There is a lot of weight and expectations to one’s favourite anything, could you answer it if some movie nerd just asked out of the blue in exchange for your lunch voucher (they get the lunch thing even if they don’t answer)?
