Welcome to the challenge of August, which is going to be all about Time; mostly fiction dealing with Time Travel, but also other topics to do with Time, and the manipulation thereof.
Sometimes “time travel” is a matter of perspective. Fiction has a deep well of characters who experience countless eras simply by virtue of not dying, whether by aging extremely slowly-if at all- or simply straight up immortal. This can of course be used for all sorts of stories interrogating mortality and the passage of time, and so todays prompt is, what are your favorite stories involving immortality? What are your favorite immortal characters?
Bonus Prompt: What are your favorite/least favorite tropes associated with immortality – do you like the whole “ennui at outliving everyone” aspect, or is it played out?
Extra Bonus Prompt: Whats’ the best and worst stories about defeating an immortal being?
Paradox Bonus Prompt: Would you want immortality yourself, and how would you deal with it?
