“Can you believe our incredible California summer is almost over, Liz?” Jessica Wakefield moans as she dramatically drapes a shapely, bronzed arm over her eyes.
Elizabeth Wakefield giggles at her twin sister’s antics, “School starts next week, Jess. Have you finished your summer reading?”
Jessica sits up quickly, her Pacific Ocean blue-green eyes blazing, “Of course not. I’m not a nerd, Lizzie. That does remind me, I need to get Winston Egbert to do my homework for me.”
Elizabeth shakes her head, feathery blond hair floating like a halo around her perfect face. Unlike her twin sister, Elizabeth loves school and studying. Nothing makes her feel more superior than pedantically correcting her classmates. Jessica also enjoys looking down on her peers, but with her gorgeous looks and style. At Sweet Werewolf High, no one is higher on the social pyramid than the Wakefield Twins.
“Rushing will be tough this year. Pi Beta Alpha only takes the prettiest girls with the highest grades,” Elizabeth reminds Jessica.
“I don’t know what you’re so stressed about, Lizzie,” Jessica huffs as she admires her reflection in the mirror. “They would be fools not to admit us, we’re the most popular girl in Junior year. And if I don’t become the Pi Beta Alpha President immediately after being admitted, well let’s just say the Rockin’ Dance Contest will be more memorable than the last dance,” Jessica smirks.
Elizabeth loves her sister with all her heart, but she would be remiss to discount Jessica’s mean streak. After all, who can forget the incident at the Jungle Prom? Memories of that fatal night brought tears to Elizabeth’s eyes. Elizabeth shook the thoughts from her head, she had to get ready. Despite Jessica’s ease, Elizabeth knew rushing for Pi Beta Alpha would be no easy feat.
