Hoped to do some exploring in Detroit today (as well as catching an acquaintance’s art exhibit and a show in Hamtramck) but the weather has conspired against me to an almost cartoonish degree. It looks like it’ll be raining all day, both there and in Ann Arbor (though it’s been annoyingly dry and cool outside for the past couple of hours). On the bright side, it might actually be cool enough today to order pizza—can’t remember the last time I did that. Not to mention, of course, the possibility of getting some artwork done. I’ve already made a great start (I think) on this month’s drawing, but the painting still needs some shoring up, not least as I’m still behind for the year (even if I’m starting to rethink my routine and the need for a quota considering the stuff I’ve already done).

The header’s a sketch from a couple of weeks ago, done at Detroit’s Anthology Coffee (in Eastern Market). The weather was similar to this morning and I was the only customer there for a good twenty minutes. Imagining I’m there now.
