Later this week we’re driving from Chicago to Asheville. Going to try making it in one shot (about 10 hours). In the interest of eating well and saving a little time we’re going to pack food for the road rather than stop and eat somewhere. That’s usually our m.o. for a road trip unless we’ve heard about a place on the route we really want to stop and try. Fresh fruits, cheese, some kind of bread/crackers (I guess that’s charcuterie) are all staples. Depending on what kinds of leftovers we have those will come along too. Sandwiches and some kind of a sweet treat like muffins or banana bread. And no hard and fast rules. M&Ms or other candy from a gas station is a good one too, maybe honeybuns since those are a rarity up north by us.
