30 Day STEM Challenge Day 15: Your Favorite STEM Movie

Welcome to the 30 Day Challenge for July, where we’ll be looking at the STEM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. I originally conceived of the as the Science & Math Challenge so those two categories will get more attention, but we will touch on all of them.

Today we want to talk about your favorite STEM-focused movie. This isn’t limited to just documentaries – though those are certainly fair game – but the idea is to talk about movies are based on science-fact not science-fiction. So Oppenheimer yes, Interstellar no. Later prompts will look at what sci-fi gets right and wrong.

So, what’s your favorite STEM movie? Do you like it because of the science and math, in spite of it, or something in between? What is something interesting you’ve learned from a science movie?

Bonus: Best performance by an actor as a real life scientist, mathematician, or engineer?

Bonus bonus: What person or topic from the STEM world deserves its own movie?
