Spider-Man 2 opened on this day 20 years ago. It was the first superhero movie I ever saw, and was, as the cool kids say these days, PEAK! Actually, EVERYTHING surrounding this release was PEAK!
For instance, the teaser trailer? Fucking PEAK!
Oh, but what about that full trailer? Well, that was even more PEAK! I recall seeing it before 13 Going on 30 and knowing that I HAD to go! And I hadn’t even watched the original! That is how fucking PEAK it was!
And the PEAK didn’t stop there! This music video? PEAKING TO THE MAX! Why, yes, I do feel “Vindicated” declaring that! Remember those little monitors with the headphones you could sample music on at FYE? Pepperidge Farm remembers. And so does Scrat.
And how about that promo art? You can say it with me: PEAK! Not sure why Spider-Man is crouching down in front of Doc Ock like that, but I’ll keep my mind out of the gutter. Know why? Because it’s PEAK!

And then there was the merch! Let’s check out this action figure/doll gift set of Spider-Man and Mary Jane in her wedding dress! It is…um…oh…oh no…

That’s…well, it’s not…it’s not peak. It’s…oh…oh SHIT! He’s DEAD! PETER PARKER IS DEAD! NO! MJ KILLED HIM AND THEN TOOK THE BODY TO AN EVIL YET UNDERPAID SUPERVILLAIN TAXIDERMIST! CALL THE COPS!

Have a peak day, y’all! Also, you’ll probably get more Spidey soon in another OT soon (and hopefully not dead).
