Welcome to this week’s pet thread! Before we share our photos, let’s inspect this week’s Famous Pet – Nedjem, a cat owned by Puimre high priest of Amun and dates from the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose III (1479-1425 BC). Nedjem, which translates to “Sweet”, is the earliest cat that we know of to have a name. Although I’m reasonably confident Nedjem didn’t care what he was called, so long as he wasn’t called late for dinner.
