Growing up TVs were for the most part the same. A curved CRT with two channel knobs, and a 480i screen. Yes, some had a flat screen and they got as big as 30”, but were not that much different.
But the rollout of HD content in the early 2000’s led to an explosion of HDTVs in the marketplace. And there were multiple technologies to choose from.
When I was looking to buy a new TV in 2006, this chart was my guide to figuring out which one I wanted to purchase.

I ended up with a Samsung real projection DLP at a whopping 46”. I was limited by the size of the TV alcove of the house I was living in at the time.

Ultimately what did it in for me was that it only had one HDMI input and toward the end it would fail to turn on unless I tried a couple of times.
Have a great night and happy posting!
