Here Comes Peter Cottontail is the Holiday Inn of Rankin/Bass outings, managing to fit several special occasions into one hour thanks to a time travel story that sends its titular bunny on a quest to save Easter. To do this, he must win a contest to deliver the most eggs, but alas, he sleeps through the big day, and now he’s desperately attempting to do the job on other holidays to make up for it.

His first fiasco on his journey is Mother’s Day, when he tries to give eggs to an ungrateful family of judgmental shits who give him Hell for missing Easter instead of accepting free food. They even scold him for not giving mom an Easter bonnet! Since when is that the Easter Bunny’s job? Peter really should have bided his time and waited until Father’s Day, as I’m pretty sure dad would have been like “oh cool, a colored egg” regardless of if it was in season or not.
