Battle of the (Fictional) Bands: Rules and Nominations

Pop culture has no shortage of examples of fictional musical acts, so I think it’s about time The Avocado had a good old-fashioned Battle of the Bands to determine which one is the best. Here’s how it’s gonna work:

  1. Like all our bracket tournaments, we’ll nominate fictional bands in the comments below. Upvote your favorites–the top 64 (or maybe more/fewer, depending on the number of nominations) will make it into the bracket, with number of votes determining seeding.
  2. Musical acts of any genre are permitted, and can be pulled from any type of media (film, TV, animation, books, video games, even from songs/albums from other real bands [Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, for example]).
  3. “Band” should be interpreted loosely. Fictional solo artists are welcome, as are a cappella groups, string quartets, concert pianists, etc.
  4. Nominees should exist ONLY within a fictional universe. If a band has jumped from a fictional universe into reality (eg, The Monkees), they are disqualified.1
  5. When making a nomination, it would help if you included the name of the source material along with the band name, even if it seems obvious to you.

Nomination round starts now, and there’s not even an entry fee!
