Jeopardy!

16th CENTURY STUFF // IN THE BLACK // CITY PARKS // “ALL” THE WAY // YACHTS // BATMAN’S ALTER EGOS

DD1 – $1,000 – IN THE BLACK – In 1974 this physicist proposed a theory on how black holes die–a type of radiation now named for him (Nils doubled to $4,800.)

Scores at first break: Amy $2,600, Weckiai $5,400, Nils $200.

Scores entering DJ: Amy $3,000, Weckiai $5,400, Nils $6,000.

Double Jeopardy!

BRITSPEAK // KISS & TELL // COMPLIMENTS TO THE WRITER // -OLOGIES // REPETITION // REDONE-DANCY

DD2 – $1,200 – KISS & TELL – The title character of this Puccini opera kisses her son goodbye before taking her own life with her father’s dagger (Amy lost $4,000 from her total of $7,400.)

DD3 – $800 – -OLOGIES – Remove 2 letters from the study of weather to get this, the study of weights & measures (Amy dropped $4,200 on a true DD.)

Amy found both DDs in DJ midway in the round and missed them both, falling to $0, so it was Weckiai leading into FJ with $11,400 vs. $6,400 for Nils and $3,600 for Amy.

Final Jeopardy!

EXECUTIVE ORDERS – On Nov. 15, 1961 JFK suspended the 8-hour workday at this agency, saying its work needed to proceed “with all possible speed”

Everyone was incorrect on FJ. Weckiai dropped $1,401 to win with $9,999.

Final scores: Amy 1, Weckiai $9,999, Nils $2,400.

That’s before their time: No one knew the “repetitive” band who had the 1984 hit with “It’s My Life” is Talk Talk, or “Kiss on My List” duo Daryl Hall and John Oates.

Correct Qs: DD1 – Who was Hawking? DD2 – What is “Madama Butterfly”? DD3 – What is metrology? FJ – What is NASA?
