Time to wake up and smell the brimstone, Avocado! I’m doing something a little different this time. Since we’re trying to expand interest in the game and since Solium Infernum requires you to set up the player count at game creation, I thought it would be better if we had a sign-up thread to get everything sorted instead of potentially having to delete and recreate games. If you’re new or curious, feel free to ask any questions and we’ll get you sorted. Here is a brief FAQ:
Q: Do I have to be online at the same time as everyone else to play? How do you manage the time zone differences?
A: No, you don’t! Solium Infernum has simultaneous turns: everyone’s turn is executed in order from the first player (the Regent) to the last, in order of action slot. So the Regent’s first action, the second player’s first action, the third player’s first action, etc. until all players’ actions have been resolved. This means that turns can be issued asynchronously! Each player will have 48 hours to submit their turn. Once all turns are submitted, the turn executes and the timer resets. As long as you can spare a few minutes every two days, you can play without issue.
Q: Do I have to own the DLC that was recently released?
A: No, you don’t! The DLC adds a new playable Archfiend, Belphegor, but otherwise adds nothing else. A player who owns the DLC may select Belphegor as their Archfiend, and players who don’t own the DLC cannot. This is the only impact. And since Solium Infernum doesn’t allow duplicate Archfiends, only one player may select any given Archfiend, so you aren’t going to be ganged up on by any particular playstyle or unique advantage.
Q: What happens if there are more interested participants than a game can support?
A: Ah, what a wonderful problem to have! If we have more than six people who want to play, I am personally fine participating in more than one game. The maximum number of players is six, the minimum is three (or maybe four). We want to encourage everyone to have fun and take the plunge, and I, for one, am happy to help.
Q: I’ve seen some comments about the previous games where you mentioned titans. What’s that all about?
A: *deranged, traumatized laughter*
