Happy Monday, folks! It’s time for the Weekly Video Games Thread!

Today, I’d like us to consider, for a moment, the barrel. That giant wooden keg, or that thick metal cylinder. I imagine most of us go throughout our day without even thinking about this bit of video game architecture. And yet, where would we be without it? What is Donkey Kong without throwing barrels at Mario, or riding on them like a rocket? Where would our jacked up shooter heroes be without red, gas-filled barrels to conveniently fire upon? Barrels are a key component of the video game experience.

And yet, I believe I’ve only scratched the surface. So for today’s prompt, tell me all about your favorite barrels in video games. Do you like to wield them? Survive their attacks? Place them in your model homes? And while you’re here, what kind of games did you play over the weekend?
