This week’s prompt: “You start in a tavern…” is a classic and time-honored tradition in fantasy RPGs. The taverns is the perfect place for an adventuring party to meet up, offering a chance for the player characters to interact with each other, meet important NPCs, or just goof off until some inciting incident comes along and kicks off the plot. It’s also such a cliche that subverting it is itself a cliche. What’s your favorite way to begin a new TTRPG campaign or adventure?
