Hello Tournacados! Here we have the first round of voting for the best cover song in music. It took me a while to sort through and rank both of the seeding rounds and set up the bracket, but it’s finally ready. If you don’t see an amazing cover on this round, (like top seeded “All Along the Watchtower) don’t worry, they’re probably around for Part 2 to follow.
Some quick facts of interest:
Johnny Cash, Nina Simone and Nirvana have the most appearances on this list (as covering artists) with four songs each.
As for the most covered artist, it’s the Beatles in a walk, with 14 covers of their songs here. If we leave aside “traditional,” the next artists are at 5 (The Rolling Stones, Simon and Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen, and Black Sabbath). Sabbath, funnily enough, has the SINGLE most covered song here, with three versions of “War Pigs” showing up. Great song.
Part 1 of this round shall end at… (checks work schedule) 9PM Eastern on Wednesday 3/20, and I’ll try to have Part 2 of it up by Thursday morning.
