I know we have a fair few weeaboos Japanese pop culture enthusiasts at this site, as well as a fair few (well, okay, a lot of) cat lovers. As such, I thought that I could combine these two different (though not mutually exclusive) interests of a significant percentage of folks here into a single OT header, as the “Happy Happy Happy Cat” song and video is currently sweeping the nation of Japan!

More specifically, I learned about it three weeks ago from a sixth grade girl at an elementary school with less than fifty students total (grades 1 to 6) located in a tiny mountain town. Therefore, if this is in keeping with the spread of trends in general, this meme probably already swept the nation (as well as many other nations) close to a year ago, and the younger kids in the tiny mountain town where I live and work are only just discovering it now (as well as me, what with being an “old” and all).
