Sofia the First is one of the most popular shows in Disney Channel’s history, scoring record-breaking ratings for them and lasting four seasons. It’s pretty cute and had what some might consider a surprising amount of adult fans. But we’re not here to talk about how adorable it is. No, we’re here to talk about how it straight-up ripped off a beloved animated character.

Let me introduce you to “Kai,” a panda bear who failed to live up to family expectations and wanted to pursue his own dream. Sound familiar? Let me help you out. Kai’s dream is to “become a dancer” and he demonstrates this through an elaborate song, and I want you to take note of how it seems the voice actor is trying to sound like a certain other panda.

Look, I’m not saying the song isn’t catchy or anything, because it absolutely is. But c’mon! We all know who this fucking panda is supposed to be, and it pains me that the show was so blatant–shameless even–about what they were ripping off, so I’ll just say the quiet part out-loud.

Kai is obviously a rip-off of Pancada from Little Panda Fighter.

I mean, c’mon! C’MON! What was Pancada’s dream in the movie? To become a fucking dancer! What was Kai’s dream on Sofia the First? TO BECOME A FUCKING DANCER! I can’t for the life of me figure out how Disney wasn’t SUED for such an obvious violation of the rights of the talented people who brought the beloved masterpiece Little Panda Fighter to life! And don’t tell me the kids didn’t notice, as I can assure you they very much did. Hell, I bet most of them got very confused and just called him “Pancada” instead of fucking “Kai” out of habit! Even when I show this clip to adults, they are like “give me a break, this is so clearly just Disney trying to have their very own Little Panda Fighter!”

Anyway, Kai did show up in another episode of Sofia the First during its last season, and he sang a song there too, but I’m not going to share the link here, since everything about this thumbnail scares me. And I mean everything. WHY DO THEIR TEETH LOOK LIKE THAT? CLOSE YOUR MOUTHS, FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST!
