Welcome to The Avocado’s weekly discussion of Japanese pop culture! Last week, BIN released their second album, Melt. And it’s delightful! I’m not sure how to describe their music exactly, but the group is made up of three members: yama (vocals), Tomato (visuals), and T (producer). So if you’ve listened to yama’s solo work, you’ll recognize the vocals. But the sound is a bit different. More…laid back? There’s a city pop vibe to some of their songs, but it’s more than that? Because you’ll also find songs with a dramatic flair (“Nascent Sacrifice”, the theme song for one of my favorite anime from last year, Sacrificial Princess of the King of Beasts, is a good example of this). It’s just…very good music. Yes, that’s how I would describe BIN: very good music. And good vibes. So give their album a listen today! Below you’ll find a preview of the whole album to give a sample, and my current favorite new-to-me song on the album (meaning it wasn’t a previously released single). Enjoy!
And, as always…
What have you been watching/reading/playing/eating/listening to lately?
Happy Wednesday! 🙂
