In the course of most narratives, time passes for the characters. Add in flash backs, backstory, flash forwards, time skips, and maybe premonitions of the future and it can get confusing for the reader, and maybe the writer as well!

How do you deal with the timeline of your story, and how do you keep it from becoming confusing for you or the reader?
