Alphabetically, the first sovereign state in the world is Afghanistan, a very mountainous country. Most significant range wise is the Hindu Kush, which also stretches into Pakistan and Tajikistan. The highest peak in Afghanistan is Noshaq, on the border with Pakistan at 24,580 feet ( 7492 meters). Fun fact: it is the westernmost 7000 m peak in the world, sorry all mountains in the Americas.
